May 10: Life in Exile

Welcome to St Mark’s Home Church, wherever you are in the world! As you scroll down you can follow the form of the service at your own pace with space for interaction, Bible readings, song and prayer as you feel led.

If you’re doing this with your family, you can head over here to access additional content for kid’s church today.

This week our connect groups watched this video which gives an overview of the book of Daniel. If you haven’t seen it, feel free to check it out now:

Reading: Daniel 1

Worship

Thanks to Rosina and Jean who have provided this week’s song. This song inspired Rosina and is about offering yourself to God, just as you are, no matter the circumstances.

Feel free to sing your own songs, or you can find more songs on our slowly growing worship playlist.

Message

  • What did you sense God speaking to you today?

  • If you were to think of the best possible practices that might nurture your faith, what would they be?

  • And what would it look like for you to make a 10 day commitment to develop one or two of these practices?

  • What supports or motivation would you need?

Prayers

We invite you to take some time to pray with your household, in silence, or journal your own prayers.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

Reflection

Below is a song by Andy Bast and Bruce Benedict reflecting on the vocation of parenthood, as a blessing to every mother and every father. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers and mother-figures in our church family.

Community

Our CMS Missionaries, David and Prue Boyd, have sent us an update about their situation and work during this pandemic period.

Thank you to all those who have again donated groceries and food vouchers to students in need through the Subbies Ministry. Suraj will be at St Mark’s to receive donations between 1-2pm every Wednesday in May. Here are some pictures below of the food being assembled into care packages.

Giving

Thanks to all of those who continue to give to support our ministry. You can give to support the work of CMS and the ministry of St Mark’s below, or make food donations to Subbies at St Mark’s, as noted above. :)

Thank you!

We leave you with words from John 7:15-18

15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

See you next week!
