May 3: What do you build your life on?

Welcome to St Mark’s Home Church, wherever you are in the world! As you scroll down you can follow the form of the service at your own pace with space for interaction, Bible readings, song and prayer as you feel led.

If you’re doing this with your family, you can head over here to access additional content for kid’s church today.

Reading: Matthew 7:24-29

Worship

Thanks to Adam and Laura who have provided this week’s song. Feel free to sing your own songs, or you can find more songs on our slowly growing worship playlist.

Message

  • What things have we relied on that have been shown to be like sand?

  • How can we make Jesus our foundation?

  • Stuart talked about forgiveness. Why is this so essential as a foundation for life?

  • Jesus wants us to hear his words and put them into practice. Has God been saying something to you of late that you need to put into practice?

Prayer

Today, Mika begins by leading us in prayer. This is followed by a series of spaces for you to form your own prayers

We invite you to say aloud the Lord’s prayer:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

Giving

Thanks to all of those who continue to give to support our ministry. If you missed us last week, you can now donate using a bank card, by clicking the button below.

Community

A huge thank you to everyone who delivered groceries and food vouchers to St Mark’s to support the Subbies ministry after Suraj’s interview last week! (And thank you all for being so diligent in social distancing as you made your donations – it actually felt like a bit of a party to see so many people!)

Suraj will also be at St Mark’s every Wednesday during May between 1–2pm to receive donations.

We had an amazing first session of Youth Alpha online at Voyage on Friday! Here’s a video of the leaders putting together care packages to send to our youth last week, as we prepared for a creative term of online youth ministry. If you’re interested in joining us next week, get in touch with Stuart.

Tonight we are having a live Q&A panel - tune in at 7:30pm on Facebook to hear Ginny Baird, David Law and Kim answer questions about God. We’ve invited people from the wider community to share their questions and it’s been wonderful to have so many – the intended audience is for those who might not normally come to church, but we also hope that it will equip and encourage you!

Alpha online for adults starts this Wednesday 6th May at 7:30pm, with the Taste of Alpha. There is still a chance to join in, particularly in the first two weeks of Alpha. If you’re interested, please email Gayle.

Please also keep everyone running and participating in Alpha online in your prayers as their explore questions about life and the Christian faith.

Even though we’re unable to meet together in our church building at the moment, our wonderful wardens are still looking after it for us and doing all the usual behind the scenes things required – thanks so much for addressing the crack Tony!

Thanks for joining us!

We leave you with words from 2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

See you online next week!
