May 24: The God who rescues

Welcome to St Mark’s Home Church, wherever you are in the world! As you scroll down you can follow the form of the service at your own pace with space for interaction, Bible readings, song and prayer as you feel led.

If you’re doing this with your family, you can head over here to access additional content for kid’s church today.

Take a moment to pray…

Pause for a moment to pray by yourself, with your family, or whoever you’re with as you prepare your heart to meet with Jesus.

Worship

This video was recorded prior to social distancing rules!! A big thanks to Louis for your help with this one :)

Feel free to sing your own songs, or you can find more songs on our slowly growing worship playlist.

Reading: Daniel 3: 1-30

Message

  • Today’s sermon was all about the big picture. At the same time, what do you sense God saying to you personally?

  • How might you be inspired by Daniel’s friends’ faith and courage, or warned by Nebuchadnezzar’s idolatry?

Download this PDF for a full bible study on this passage.

Reflection

Thanks Rosina and Jean for recording this one for us. We’re encouraged to trust God no matter what is happening in life.

Prayers

We invite you to take some time to pray with your household, in silence, or journal your own prayers.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

Community

How did you go with your 10 day Daniel challenge? We’re not going to lie, it was harder than we thought! Have a look at the video below for a debrief with Stuart and Kim.

Connect Groups

St Mark’s has a number of small groups that meet weekly for a bible study and to encourage each other – during the pandemic some of these groups have continued to meet online. If you’re interested in joining a Connect group, send Kim an email.

Thanks!

We leave you with words from 1 Peter 4: 12-14…

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

See you next week!
